Shell Investment PropertiesThis series was inspired by the NY Times article, “In Los Angeles, a Nimby Battle Pits Millionaires vs. Billionaires,” by Peter Haldeman. One of the stars of the piece was Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, a Saudi Arabian prince who had massively ambitious plans for an immense property he purchased in the Benedict Canyon section of Beverly Hills, but, upon learning of those building ambitions, the neighbors marshaled their own impressive forces of wealth and power to shut the paths to construction down, thus leaving the property stuck in limbo, or purgatory. Through Google Earth scoping (there are no access points to view the property other than from rather anonymous front gate), and news photos, I depicted both the general context of the property as well as the property (particularly it summit) itself in several versions.
